Readings, with and without the real life Dingle

  • The Hop Ice Cream Parlor, Asheville, NC, July 1, 2010
(which coincided with the publication date of Dingle, The Helpful Ice Cream Cone Delivery Dog). A reading with special appearance by Dingle (whose owner's surname is Truelove, making his dog Dingle Truelove), for The Hop's special evening's Dog's Night Out.
  • Return engagements at The Hop, by popular request, Aug. 5, and yet another on Nov. 6! (Note to self: Warn Dingle about perils of "overexposure" common to star performers!)
  • Multiple readings at Asheville area YMCA preschool classes and the Jewish Community Center, throughout July and August 2010, among other readings for young children and their parents and teachers... and also one exception:
  • Reading/discussion for approximately 100 older adults who are "Foster Grandparents" locally (and working with young children as an elderly version of Big Brothers and Sisters), Asheville, NC, Nov. 16, 2010. An interested audience, many of whom wanted to contribute thoughts about people "of a certain age" not asking for help when needed—an important lesson we can all take away from Dingle, the dog in the book who wants to ensure his elderly and disabled owner's comfort and safety.

The real-life Dingle arrives at his first "Dog's Night Out," at The Hop Ice Cream Parlor, Asheville, NC.

Author surrounded by books all about Dingle.

The book display for Dog's Night Out... proceeds to the Animal Compassion Network, Asheville, NC.

Dingle, very happy to be among friends (close to 50 walk-ins — dogs — along with owners) at Dog's Night Out, July 1, 2010.
